The village
Eversholt is recorded in the Domesday Book, and its name is thought to come from the Anglo Saxon for a wood of the wild boar. For centuries most of the land belonged to the Dukes of Bedford, and most residents worked on the estate. The Church of St John the Baptist, built in the twelfth century, stands at the centre of the village and is still in regular use. The village has its own pub, The Green Man, a cricket ground, a village hall and an open air swimming pool, and the Greensand Ridge Walk links Eversholt with Woburn through the parkland of Woburn Abbey.
Homes and prices
Homes in Eversholt range from period cottages to substantial individual houses set in open countryside. So few sell each year that a village average would move wildly and mean little. Each home is valued on its own merits, against comparable country houses around Woburn and the surrounding villages.
Getting about
Ridgmont station, on the Marston Vale line between Bedford and Bletchley, is the nearest station, and Flitwick station, a short drive east, has Thameslink services to London St Pancras and the City. Junction 13 of the M1 and Milton Keynes are both within easy reach.
Schools
Eversholt has its own lower school, Eversholt Lower School, and pupils usually move on at nine to Parkfields Middle School in nearby Toddington. We always suggest checking current admissions arrangements with Central Bedfordshire Council for a specific address.
