The village
Felmersham was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, and its Church of St Mary looks over the river valley. The village has one pub, The Sun, and its quiet comes partly from what it does not have: there is no through traffic, and the river does most of the work of a boundary. North of the village, across the river, Felmersham Gravel Pits is a nature reserve.
Homes and prices
Homes here are mostly period stone houses and cottages, with a smaller number of later family homes and converted farm buildings. So few sell each year that a village average would move wildly and mean little. Prices are set by the individual house, its setting and its relationship to the river, and the best homes here are valued against the wider north Bedfordshire market.
Getting about
Sharnbrook and the A6 are a short drive east, and Bedford station, around seven miles away, has trains to London St Pancras taking from around 40 minutes.
Schools
Families in Felmersham are close to the schools in Sharnbrook, including Sharnbrook Academy, and to Bedford's state and independent schools. We always suggest checking current admissions arrangements with Bedford Borough Council for a specific address.
