The village
Ravensden's oldest part, Church End, sits on high ground around All Saints Church, which dates from the twelfth century and looks over the lower village. The Horse and Jockey, next to the church, is the village pub. The parish has farmland and ancient woods, and its other areas of homes include Wood End, Cleat Hill and Oldways Road. Mowsbury Park and Freeman's Common lie between the village and Bedford, and Mowsbury Hill to the south is a nature reserve.
Homes and prices
Ravensden offers period cottages and houses around Church End, farmhouses and converted barns across the parish and family homes in the village's closes. So few sell each year that a village average would move widely and mean little, and homes here are usually compared with sales in the surrounding villages and on the northern edge of Bedford.
Getting about
The B660 runs through the village to Bedford in the south and Kimbolton in the north. Bedford town centre is a short drive away, and Bedford station has trains to London St Pancras taking from around 40 minutes.
Schools
Ravensden Church of England Primary Academy is in Vicarage Close, behind the church, and Mark Rutherford School in Putnoe is the secondary school in its catchment. Bedford's independent schools, including Bedford School, Bedford Girls' School, Bedford Modern School and Pilgrims' School, are a short drive away. We always suggest checking current admissions arrangements with Bedford Borough Council for a specific address.
