    Living in Stagsden

Stagsden is a small village around four miles west of Bedford, close to Bromham. Since the A422 bypass took the through traffic away, it has been one of the quietest villages within easy reach of the town.

    The village

St Leonard's Church stands at the centre of Stagsden, where the High Street, Bedford Road and Church Lane meet. The village was bypassed by the A422 in the 1990s, and Hanger Wood, an ancient woodland and Site of Special Scientific Interest, lies half a mile to the east. Bedfordshire Golf Club is across the A422 on the hillside.

    Homes and prices

Stagsden has period houses and cottages around the church, farmhouses and converted buildings on its edges, and a number of larger family homes on generous plots. So few sell each year that a village average would mean little, and homes here are usually compared with sales in Bromham, Turvey and the surrounding villages.

    Getting about

The A422 links Stagsden to Bedford in the east and Milton Keynes in the west, and the A428 at Bromham is a short drive north. Bedford station has trains to London St Pancras taking from around 40 minutes.

    Schools

Families in Stagsden are close to the schools in Bromham and Bedford, including Bedford's independent schools. We always suggest checking current admissions arrangements with Bedford Borough Council for a specific address.
