    The village

Woburn grew up at the gates of Woburn Abbey, founded by Cistercian monks in 1145 and granted to the first Earl of Bedford in 1538. After a fire in 1724 destroyed much of the town, it was rebuilt in the Georgian style that survives today, with the Town Hall designed by Edward Blore and completed in 1830. Woburn Abbey, its deer park and Woburn Safari Park are on the doorstep, and Woburn Golf Club, which has hosted the Women's British Open, is a short drive west.

    Homes and prices

Most homes in Woburn are Georgian and earlier houses and cottages, many of them listed. Few come to the market each year, so a village average would mean little, and homes here are valued against comparable period houses across Woburn, Woburn Sands and the surrounding villages.

    Getting about

Junction 13 of the M1 is around three miles north, and Milton Keynes Central, with fast trains to London Euston, is a short drive west. Flitwick station has Thameslink services to London St Pancras and the City.

    Schools
